According to The Chicago Tribune, “Mayor Rahm Emanuel is down to two candidates for the top post at the Chicago Housing Authority, a job whose chief concern will be dealing with a stubbornly anemic real estate market that has hampered efforts to create vibrant mixed-income developments where crime-ridden high-rises once stood.”

Navy Pier Renovations in the Works

According to Navy Pier, Incorporated,the non-profit firm that oversees all operations of Chicago’s most visited tourist attraction, the Pier is in need of a little work. Or maybe a lot of work.
Navy Pier, Inc. has announced plans to put more than $150 million dollars of renovations into the Pier. The renovations include the addition of a 150 room hotel to the east end of the Pier. They also include new construction and expansion on the Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

A few months ago former mayor Richard Daley proposed to plan, design, and construct a 24-hour skate park, to be built in the south side of Chicago, at the site of an unused bus station.
Daley’s proposition made it through Chicago’s legislature without any issues, but now the proposal has appeared on recently elected mayor Rahm Emanuel’s desk. And the proposal won’t be pushed through unless Rahm decides to provide the project with $2 million in funding.
